Dear Peter,

It turns out that this is a bug that we already know about, affecting
metadata with Unicode names. You can download a preliminary fixed
version of perllib/plugins/RecPlug.pm from
http://www.cs.waikato.ac.nz/~mdewsnip/greenstone/temp-2.70/RecPlug.pm,
then re-export your collection.
