Luke,

ISIS is a textual database with which you can create databases for librarires, archives and museums. It has a powerfull text retireval algoritm for the time it was developed but today can be considered a litle old regarding LUCENE and other tools. Any way basic concepts are very actual and□ all new developments use similar architecture (Inverted files).

You can use it as a tool to transform records or even for an internal database. At present BIREME anounced a new interface based on PHP wich can manage Cataloguing and Circulation on a WEB interface.

UNESCO will delivery a new version end of this year based on JAVA which will extend it. Actual version on Windows is called WINISIS.

Rafael
