Version 2.41 of the Greenstone Language Pack (to work with Greenstone
v2.41) has now been released. It can be downloaded from
This package contains all the language interfaces available for the
Greenstone digital library software (version 2.41 only). It includes the
four "core" languages included in all distributions of Greenstone
(English, French, Spanish, Russian) and interfaces for twenty-two other
languages (Arabic, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Dutch, Finnish, Galician,
German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Kannada,
Kazakh, Maori, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Thai,
Turkish, Ukrainian). New since the last release are:
Croatian - Created by Boris Bosancic
Finnish - Created by Steve Legrand
Greek - Created by Dimitris Gavrilis
Hindi - Created by B. S. Shivaram
Kannada - Created by B. S. Shivaram
Portuguese (Portugal) - Created by Jos Borbinha
Ukrainian - Created by Vasyl Tanovsky
The Chinese (Andrew Yan Han) and Turkish (□zcan Kabak□ioglu) interfaces
have also been substantially updated since the last release.
Most of the interfaces have been created by volunteers, and we are
extremely grateful to these people for their time and effort. Creating a
Greenstone interface in another language is not difficult (it
essentially consists of translating English strings into another
language), so if you are multilingual and you would like to see a
Greenstone interface in your language, we would love to hear from you!
Please e-mail me (mdewsnip64;cs.waikato.ac.nz) for more details.
Note that because the Greenstone interface gradually changes over time,
some of the interfaces are incomplete or slightly out of date.
