Both mg and mgpp are available by default in greenstone 2.6x

As far as the oaiserver it is easiest to try the oai demo collection
to get a handle on it.
(I think there are also some good notes in the Greenstone Archives
collection available at www.nzdl.org)

I am no flash expert - my understanding of flash is that is requires a
special macromedia(now adobe?) server. This may have changed sinc I
last looked at it.

You can easily change the look of greenstone to fit that of your site
- there are some great examples at the www.greenstone.org site of
collections that have done just that.

If you want a more interactive flash-like interface then maybe you
could try one of the many AJAX javascript libraries that seem to be
popping up regently.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AJAX
This http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AJAX#Perl might be useful?
