could you please tell us what the issue with RedHat 9 was?
Was it an error about "undefined reference to `h_errno'" for wget, or some
other error. Also, which version of gcc was used to compile it?

We generally test greenstone on a number of distributions and gcc
versions, although I don't know if any of us have red hat 9 installed.
