It can be achieved by modifying the "search->Vlist" format. You can add
a query link into the search Vlist like this:
<a href="/gsdlmod?a=q&c=collect-name&q=[Title]" >[Title]</a>
a=q action is query
c=collect-name collect name that you want to search in
q=[Title] query string is the value of [Title]

Hello Debjani,
I built collection using Greenstone 2.71 enriching the collection manually
keying metadata. I have now copied this collection in Greenstone 2.72
under collect folder. While browsing, I am able to browse this collection
through internet explorer. The problem I am facing is that I am not
getting files of this collection in my GLI (2.72). I want to enrich my
collection keying some more metadata. Kindly help me to solve the problem.
Could you open the collection in GlI (File->Open)? Were there anything in
Gather panel? Were there any error messages in the console?

Hi, a very quick question about the translation in Greenstone. Is it
possible to translate the digits?
For example when I do a search I get the following string:
in English "27 documents matched the query."
in Dari " 27 اسنادی که با پرس و جو تطبیق کرده اند ."
Whereas it would be nice if I coudl get the total to be displayed as Û²Û·
rather than 27.

Do you want to display PDF files in the original PDF format from the
search results? If your are, you can try to use [ex.srclink] in the
SeachVlist format. It could be similar like:
[ex.srclink]{Or}{[ex.thumbicon],[ex.srcicon]}[ex./srclink]
In addition, as you said "browsing through the collection" was fine, you
can compare Vlist and SearchVlist format from Gli to see what difference
between them is.

Hi Graeme,
In Greenstone, query result is generated by the server through the macro
_resultline_, which is in the query.dm file in the macros directory. It is
composed by the number of matching documents (i.e. 27 in this case, which is
dynamically returned from the server) plus another macro _textlotsdocs_ in
the corresponding macro file (in the case of English, english.dm). If the
number of matching documents exceeds the up-to limit (it is set in the
'preferences' page), another macro called _textmorethan_ (again, in
english.dm) will be prefixed before the matching number (eg. 27), resulting
in "more than xx documents matched the query".
You can get the content of _resultline_ by putting a html element in place
of the macro, for example, <div id=some_id>_resultline_</div>, then writing
a javaScript in the file query.dm to get the content of _resultline_ using
the id. Then you can parse the content and translate the digits and the text
separately. You can define a macro that contains your script by following
the other macros like _formpagescriptextra_ and put it in
.
Finally, you need to work out how to invoke your translation function when
the page is loaded. For example, window.onload=''your_function_name".

Hi,
If anyone has experience dealing with CJK languages they might be able
to help me with this one. I have a Korean text already in html. When I
check its character set it seems to be using gb2312 which is simplified
Chinese. I can open it up in my browser and see that it's pretty
clearly Korean however - and a Korean could read it!
When I adjusted the html plug for simplified Chinese, at least I got a
result which indicates there is text - but it is just oblongs. With
other encoding I couldn't even get that far - I tried Korean Hangul and
just got blanks.
As I say, if someone has had to deal with this in Greenstone they almost
certainly have a way to deal with it. At the moment my only solution is
to run the text to pdf then used pagedimage - that way users can read
the text but they can't search it.
Solution(s would be much appreciated - if such exist(s).

Hi Julian,
I don't know a lot about Korean but have built a few collections in
Chinese and Japanese. The first thing I'd suggest is that you open the
HTML file in your web browser again, and make sure it's readable. You
should then be able to check what character encoding the browser is
using to display it (in firefox you go to the "View" menu and select
"Character Encoding"). Once you're sure of the character encoding you'll
be better placed to solve the problem. If it's an encoding that
Greenstone already supports (e.g. UHC or UTF-8) you can set the
input_encoding option appropriately and it should work. If it's one of
the several Korean encodings that Greenstone doesn't support we'll need
to come up with some mapping files to make it work, but that's not too
hard. Alternatively, you could use iconv to convert the file to UTF-8
before importing it into Greenstone.
