that's nice, too :-) but i had a quite annoying bug in this script
(broken pipe error under certain circumstances) and unfortunately
the new version didn't find its way into the current greenstone release.

[actually, the relevant part to "fix" the bug is just a:
$SIG{'PIPE'} = 'IGNORE' - users of this script (are there any? *g*)
might not even have noticed it yet (or did they?)]

maybe anyone can add it for the next release - just to not have
anybody else annoyed ;-)
