Subject [greenstone-users] Netscape 4: problem with classifiers

I have sent an email last week about a problem with Netscape 4. If a page contains to much information it doesn't load.

Michael has browsed some collections with Netscape without any problem.

I got a hard time figuring out about the source of that problem... Now I have found a way to reproduce the bug even with other collections.

You will need the garish stylesheet, or any other stylesheet.

First add the following line to the GSDL Error function in the style.dm file:
<link rel="stylesheet" href="/gsdl/web/images/garish/style.css" type="text/css"/>

Then restart the Library, use Netscape 4.X, and go to a page with a lot of nodes such as:
Bibliography collection -> Dates -> 1986

The page never appears! When the browser stops, if you try to view the page source, you'll find that the page always stop to load at the same point.

For example, the "Dates -> 1986" page ends with:
<tr valign=top><td></td><td></td><td valign=top><a href="gsdl?e=d-0-00-cltbibZz-e--00-1-0Date--0prompt-10---4------0-1l--1-en-1000---50-about---00131-001-0-0utfZz-8-00&a=d&cl=CL3.14&d=HASH94364e5203925b3973f5ff_2128"><img src="/images/book.gif" width=18 height=11 border=0 alt="open this document and view contents" title="open this document and view contents"></a></td> <td valign=top><b>Inductive inference by refinement</b> - <i>P. Laird</i></td>
<tr valign=top><td></

It's like if the page transmission has been stopped...

My collection will be distributed on CD. It must works with Netscape 4... it's included with the Export function!

Does anybody have a solution? All I can think of is to use basic-old-html for formatting instead of stylesheet, but it breaks my heart.

By the way I tried to embed the stylesheet in the page, but it was worse: it doesn't event work with Explorer...
