Hi Julian,

When it comes to cross-collection searching, the indexes have to be exactly the same over all collections in order for them to be searchable on all collections.

So if you have

section:text document:Title

indexes built on collection A, you need

section:text document:Title

on collection B in order for cross collection searching to work

If collection C has:

section:text document:Title document:Banana

I believe document:Banana will be ignored  for cross collection searching.

Indexes have to be built at the same level too

If collection D has:

document:text document:Title

cross collection searching between a, b and d won't work.

A little advice if I may on cross-collection searching.  I'm learning the hard way! I wanted to link three collections - but was getting a zero result until I realised that I couldn't get it to work if they had different indexing arrangements.
Question - To what degree does the indexing have to be similar - exactly the same, nearly the same? I want to link collections in two languages, for instance, one in Italian (with some English items in it) and one in English (with some Italian items in it) which is why, really, I want to link the two.  Any detailed thoughts on this would help.
