as of version 2.61 there are a lot more operators (see the faq

but you're right, regular expressions would be great! :-)

yes, format statements can be nested, and macro conditionals can,
too (see e.g. _about:content_ in about.dm, line 21 - if that's what
you meant) - though i don't know how far you can push that.
