A reminder that the list has moved to
https://list.scms.waikato.ac.nz/mailman/listinfo/greenstone-users

and you can email the list at
greenstone-users @ list.cs.waikato.ac.nz

Dublin Core is a more general purpose metadata set, containing
12 main metadata fields. z39.50 is a much more complex standard
designed for searching bibliographic databases, which can
include the MARC format for returning records (but might not
use MARC at all). Most countries have their own MARC format,
although many people just use the US-MARC format (now called
MARC21). See the US Library of Congress web pages about z39.50 and
US-MARC format: http://lcweb.loc.gov/z3950/agency/
