Subject [greenstone-users] Photo file and OAI use

Greetings

My name is Malachy McCarthy and I am the Province Archivist for the Eastern Province of the Claretian Order. My archives is located in Chicago and we collect not only parish and church history materials but also the documentation from our publishing division which sponsors US Catholic and a variety of other publications. Presently we are trying to find a software program that will organize our publishing department’s digital images and add a selection of photo images from the archive collection. We would like this collection to be internally used not only by ourselves but also broaden its use to other Claretian publishing houses in the Philippines, Spain and Italy. To standardize the collection we would be using Dublin Core descriptors.

My first question is that we do not have UNIX – is it possible for Greenstone images to run on a windows based system?

The second question is – Can Greenstone be harvested by an OAI site?

Thank you for your consideration and response in this matter.  If you are aware of  other software programs that might be suitable, let me know.

Sincerely,

Malachy R. McCarthy
