Try switching into Expert mode (File->Preferences->Mode), and setting
the import and build verbosity options to 3 or 4.
Then rebuild and see if you get any errors when the build process is
stopped.

is it hanging on the import part or the build part?
what version of greenstone are you using?

as Tran said, it may be that a few of your documents are not handled
very well by our plugin. if this is the case, you could try converting
tham to another file type outside of greenstone.
