Subject [greenstone-users] Java Path on Fedora to use gli remotely
Hi,

I have gsdl on a Fedora Core 3 Machine with Java in my path:

uname -a
Linux 2.6.11-1.27_FC3 #1 Tue May 17 20:27:37 EDT 2005 i686 i686 i386
GNU/Linux
java -version
java version "1.5.0_02"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_02-b09)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_02-b09, mixed mode, sharing)

when I go to:

http://www02.unibg.it/~morin/gsdl/cgi-bin/gliserver.pl?cmd=check-installation

I have:

ERROR: Java failed -- do you have the Java run-time installed?
JAVA_HOME environment variable not set. Might not be able to find Java
unless in PATH
(/sbin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/home/morin/public_html/gsdl/bin/script:/home/morin/public_html/gsdl/bin/linux)
(cmd=check-installation)

How can I export Java run-time on the webserver's path ?

(this is what I have done to export in my path

PATH="$PATH:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/java/jdk1.5.0_02/bin"

but I need to do it everytime I login)

Locally on Ubuntu no problem beacuse everything is set globally ....

Unfortunately I can not be root on this system... any suggestions?

Thank you!

ruben

PS: do I need to have java to access gsdl remotely on upcoming version?
