There is a one sentence mention of the text interface in section 2.3 of
the Greenstone User's Guide, and a brief example of specifying the
text-only version of an image in the "Controlling the Greenstone user
interface" section of the Developer's Guide.
You can see the text mode by visiting a Greenstone collection, choosing
Preferences and then changing the Interface Format to "Textual". We
don't use the text mode much so they may be a few places where a text
alternative to an image hasn't been specified.
