Respected sir/madam
I am developing a digital library to meet the various needs of asci as a part of my project work
i have installed the greenstone version 2.41
all the computers have iis installed here
but then i have also installed apache in the windows 2000 server computer that i am working on
actually in the greenstone installers guide the process of configuring webservers is mentioned

Yes, that's right. Chapter 4 of the Greenstone Installer's Guide gives full details on how to set up Apache and PWS/IIS for Greenstone.

i followed the same for apache but when i give localhost/gsdl/cgi-bin/library.exe it does'nt work
are there any changes to be done to gsdlsite.cfg file
What do you mean by "it doesn't work"? What error message do you get? Try going to and see if you get a different result. Check again that you have set up your webserver correctly.
if i have to configure iis webserver to recognise greenstone...how do i go about doing it
This is explained in chapter 4 of the Greenstone Installer's Guide.
also in the link start->programs->greenstone digital library only two icons library interface and readme.txt appear
This is because you have installed the Web Library version. If you install the Local Library version of Greenstone then there will also be a shortcut to this program.
when i start the library interface the message missing greenstone library address appears...what do i have to do in this case
Again, this is because you have installed the web library. You should enter the http address (http://localhost/gsdl/cgi-bin/library.exe, if this works) to the Greenstone library program.

Alternatively, if you don't need to serve your collections on the web you will be better off installing the Local Library version, since this doesn't require any setting up.

it would be of great help if u can answer these questions because the main problem that i am facing is to make greenstone run

Hope this helps,
