Hi Scott,

The GLI can be set up to run as an applet, which provides the
client-server model you're after. Here's how it works:

- You install Greenstone and the GLI applet on your server machine,
which currently must be GNU/Linux (Windows support is in the works).
Full instructions for this are available here:
http://www.greenstone.org/cgi-bin/library?&a=p&p=faqinst#gliapplet

- Your users access the GLI applet using their web browser over your
network. (Or over the web, but you'll need a pretty good connection to
make it feasible).

- Users build and edit their own collections only -- no collaboration on
collections is currently possible.

- The collection source files are stored locally on the user's machine.

- When building collections, the necessary files are uploaded to the
server, where the collection is built. The collection is served from
here also.

Hope this is enough for you to work out whether this is suitable for
your needs.

Regards,

Michael
