Hi,

It looks like you're using the GNU Java Runtime, which isn't yet completely compatible with the Sun Java Runtime and won't run the Greenstone Librarian Interface. Installing the Sun Java Runtime (version 1.4.2 or newer) should fix your problem.

Regards,

Michael

Because of a run-time failure of the Greenstone Librarian, as indicated by the attached console file, I am unable to run the Greenstone Librarian interface  under my chosen Linux distribution (Ubuntu Linux).

I have been rooting around the WWW to see whether I can find a reported fix for this problem.   There are many websites discussing the problem, which seens to be related to a distinction between a 32-bit and a 64-bit version of failing software.   However deciding which of this information is pertinent and how to use it is beyond me.  also looked  for an Ubuntu list dealing with it--an appropriate place to persuade some Ubuntu guru to identify or provide a fix, but found nothing helpful.

Please suggest how I might efficiently proceed.
