|Subject||[greenstone-users] Hosting services for Greenstone|
Our archive www.israeli-left-archive.org is developed with Greenstone software and is currently hosted at home. Which implies limited bandwidth, no fault tolerance, little security and all the other implications.
We would like very much to use a third party hosting service. However, we discovered that Greenstone's usage of different executables in different places in the software is a problem, since standard hosting services support only standard web interface. This basically implies that we must do co-location (meaning put our own server with the greenstone software installed in a third party hosting service), which raises the monthly rates drastically, to levels that we cant afford.
Our questions are as follows:
1) Does anyone know of public hosting services that support Greenstone and that are affordable (under $20-30/month) that we might use?
2) What are the non-standard executables that only Greenstone uses? And are they only for the GLI?
3) And if so, is there a way that we can host only the GUI? That is, use the librarian interface locally but have the data and the GUI work from a third party hosting server.
Thanks in advance for any help.
