Hi Philip,

The home page is controlled by the home.dm macro file in the macros folder.
To remove the Help and Preferences links, edit the line in this file (shown
below) that starts with "HOME HELP PREFERENCES" and remove HELP and
PREFERENCES. Note that this will remove the links from the home page only.
Note also that it's advisable to save the original line before making
changes. Infact, the best is to backup whatever file you are editing so that
you can have a fallback if you stumble along the way.

# home:helplink and home:preflink set in nav_css/ns4 macro files
#HOME HELP PREFERENCES {HELP PREFERENCES}
HOME HELP PREFERENCES {}

If you wish to get rid of the global links altogether, edit the
style.dmmacro file and comment out the line with "<p
class="bannerlinks">HOME HELP PREFERENCES</p>" and "<!-- HOME HELP PREFERENCES -->" (if
using text version) as shown below.

# is defined in nav_css/ns4.dm, and is either text or
# a banner image

{
<!-- page banner (_style:pagebanner_) -->
<div id="banner">
<div class="pageinfo">
<!-- <p class="bannerlinks">HOME HELP PREFERENCES</p> -->

</div>
<div class="collectimage">Greenstone Archives collection</div>
</div>
<div class="bannerextra"></div>
<!-- end of page banner -->
}

[v=1] {
<!-- page banner - text version [v=1] (_style:pagebanner_) -->
<center><h2><b><u>Greenstone Archives collection</u></b></h2></center><p>
<!-- HOME HELP PREFERENCES -->

<p>
<!-- end of page banner -->
}

If you wish to more editing of the global links you'd need to edit the
section in nav_css.dm shown below:
#######################################################################
# global navigation links
#######################################################################

HOME HELP PREFERENCES {HOME HELP PREFERENCES}
HOME {HOME}
HELP {HELP}
PREFERENCES
{PREFERENCES}

You'll need to restart the library after saving changes after editing the
macro files in each of the cases mentioned above if you're running the local
library version.

I hope all this helps!

Also, please join the SAGreenstone discussion list (
http://www.eifl.net/cps/sections/services/eifl-foss/greenstone/email-discussion-list)
as previously recommended by Repke and emphasised at the workshop. This
would also help those who have attended similar workshops in and around the
region and are just as new to Greenstone.

Regards

Amos
