Hi, and thanks for the patch, Stephen.

I've been wanting this functionality for a while, but have been too lazy
to add it. In my case, I want to use filenames (I know they are unique)
as identifiers, so your suggestion that it would be better if we could
specify the metadata field to use is a good one.

What if we used an additional parameter to specify which field(s) to use:

import.pl -OIDtype metadata -OIDmetadata Barcode colname

alternatively, we could simply name the metadata field in the import command:

import.pl -OIDtype Barcode colname


Any thoughts from other developers?


Anyway, if nobody elkse adds it to CVS, I'll do so next time I rebuild my
collections, though that's not likely to be for a little while.
