Subject [greenstone-users] Greenstone3 and GDBM on Solaris 10: missing database.txt files?
Greetings all:

Sorry to be a first-day poster, but I checked the FAQ, Wiki, and list archives but could see nothing addressing the apparently missing database.txt files in the current source download.  So here goes:

I'm trying to get a Greenstone 3 installation up using the latest source download (3.02), building on Solaris 10 on a SPARC platform.  I've run into many small to medium problems in the build process (which I'd be happy to detail in a separate message, perhaps to whomever's maintaining the build as many of the issues appeared to be problems with various compiler and linker flags).  But, finally I've built the installation and done basic usability testing.

Before first running the package, I tried to follow the Solaris install directions and rebuild the GDBM databases from the database.txt files, but I found no database.txt files in either the
         greenstone3/web/sites/localsite/collect/gs2mgdemo/index/text
or the
         greenstone3/web/sites/localsite/collect/gs2mgppdemo/index/text
directory.

Here's a list of the files in each:

# ls /www/greenstone3/web/sites/localsite/collect/gs2mgdemo/index/text/
gs2mgdemo.ldb  gs2mgdemo.t    gs2mgdemo.td   gs2mgdemo.ti   gs2mgdemo.tsd

# ls /www/greenstone3/web/sites/localsite/collect/gs2mgppdemo/index/text/
gs2mgppdemo.ldb  gs2mgppdemo.td   gs2mgppdemo.tl
gs2mgppdemo.t    gs2mgppdemo.ti   gs2mgppdemo.tsd

I wondered if this meant that the earlier problems had been fixed, and started testing the installation.

Sadly, both the MGPP and MG demo collections have no services, and the greenstone log shows these errors:

Should the 'database.txt' files have been included in the install?  Or should GDBM now work "out of the box" and the above indicate yet another build issue?

Before I crawed through the output from the build process looking for GDBM glitches, I wanted to ask about the missing files and get a general feel for what's likely to be wrong.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide!
