Cool - better upload the latest manual.

About this collection

This is a collection of email messages from the Greenstone mailing list archives. The collection includes _about:numdocs_ messages from the beginning of the mailing list in April 2000. It is updated nightly with new messages from the previous day. The mailing list is used for communicating with the entire Greenstone team, therefore the content of the messages is usually global in nature. The mailing list is also a good way of getting help with problems - someone on the team will probably be able to help you.

This collection may be useful for finding solutions to common problems, or simply for tracking the progress of the Greenstone software.

How to find information in the Greenstone Archives collection collection

There are _numbrowseoptions_ ways to find information in this collection: _textbrowseoptions_

in about.dm, line 21 - if that's what
> you meant) - though i don't know how far you can push that.
I should RTFM!

Cheers,

Stephen

1. Open the Librarian (GLI with the green icon)
and follow the tabs from left to right...
2. Make new collection (File menu - New.. then follow the prompts and
accept the defaults)
3. Import both files (dragging is fine 'gather' tab)
- skip the 'enrich' tab
4. make sure you add the ISISPlug under 'document plugins' in the
'design' tab
5. Build collection. 'create' tab

You will have to look at you doc.xml files (In you
collect/collectname/archive/ folder to get an idea of the import then
you can start changing the format files.

Note: With 10,000 records I'd be tempted to just do the import once
and then do the build on small number of files while you fine tune
things. (Should save a lot of waiting)

Hi Chaitra

Please download
http://www.greenstone.org/updates/2.61/zip.exe
and put it in gsdl/gli/winutils

Does that fix your GLI applet problems?

Re lucene. It is a bit embarrassing how long it is taking to get this
working properly!
There is a bug in GLI that means that when you preview the collection
from GLI, the arguments are not set up properly. Please go to the
library home page and enter the collection from there. This will mean
that searching works properly.

I built a collection with your 3 documents, and the word and pdf
versions were accessible. The links were like
http://..../gsdl/collect/chaitra/index/assoc/HASH01ee.dir/doc.doc

Is this what your links look like? Have a look in the index/assoc
directory - are the documents in there?

Note that this didn't work when I just put the zip file into the import
directory. I had to unzip the files and then it worked.

I just used the default settings in the config file.

I'm not sure what's gone wrong with the text doc - I'll look into it
today or next week.

Cheers,
Katherine
