I assume so. You would probably need to write some code though - each
lucene application would use different fields to store/index data with.
I would expect that you can just tell a Lucene application the directory
where the indexes live and it should be able to use it. But to do a
query, it would need to know some specific field names.
Have a look at
gsdl/src/java/org/nzdl/gsdl/LuceneWrap/GS2LuceneQuery.java to see what
fields we are searching/retrieving.
Also, we use a gdbm database to match lucene index numbers (1, 2, 3...)
to greenstone ids, and source documents.
