Hi Federico,
Have you considered installing Java from java.com? It's possible that Apple's Java is incompatible with Greenstone. I have used the GLI on my Macbook with Leopard (OS X 10.5.x) and have not had any issues, and I believe I have the Java installer from java.com.

Make sure you have permission to write to /Applications/Greenstone/collect and everything under it using either Terminal and Unix commands or Get Info in Finder.

Greetings,

I have a serious problem with using Greenstone that i just can't resolve. Installation it's good and executing the interface is good too. Even the apache server runs perfect. It's the interface that simply doesn't open any collection (not even the Demo) and won't let me see anything. Two things always happen: it displays a messages that says: "the collection at /Applications/Greenstone/collect/demo/demo.col could not be open" or the interface crashes and i have to reboot.

* The operating system of the server machine: Mac OS x 10.6.4
* The version of Greenstone installed on the server machine: 2.83
* The version of Java installed on the server machine: Java VisualVM 13.2.0
*
* Java vendor: Apple Inc.

If you could help me i'd really appreciate it. I have no other resource to try.

Sincerely,

-Fedesiete
