I'm not sure why 2.51 would work when 2.52 doesn't. Anyway, you could
try changing the font used by the Librarian Interface. You will need to
edit the config file
C:Documents and Settings<username>Application

Look for
<Argument name="general.font">Verdana, BOLD, 12</Argument>

Change to
<Argument name="general.font">Arial Unicode MS, PLAIN, 12</Argument>

I hope this works.
