Results of my small test of Word plug-in for GSDL 2.39, using same document saved in different formats by Word XP (Word 2002 (10.4524.4219) sp-2), on Win2k PC:

Plain Text  (*.txt) - imported fine
Web Page (*.htm)- imported fine
Rich Text Format (*.rtf)- failed to import
Word 2.0 (*.doc)- failed to import
Word 5.0 (*.doc)- failed to import
Word 6.0/95 (*.doc)- failed to import
Word 97-2002 & 6.0/95- RTF(*.doc)- failed to import
Word XP (*.doc)- failed to import

As reported by the program:

Build summary for Word Plug-in Test collection

* 8 documents were considered for processing
* 2 were processed and included in the collection
* 6 were rejected. See D:Program Filesgsdl mp build16woplteetcfail.log for a list of rejected documents

Fail log for Word Plug-in Test collection

word-2.doc: WordPlug failed to convert to HTML
word-5.doc: WordPlug failed to convert to HTML
word-6-95.doc: WordPlug failed to convert to HTML

reinstalled Greenstone and it will import earlier
versions of Word and RTF but it will not take any
documents created on my Word 2000 even if I save them

There must be some settings in my Word 2000 that keep
