Hi Karthik

Are you building from the command line and if so what's your readout?
Make sure you have root access or use the sudo command to get around that
here's what my collection building process looks like

(this is cut 'n pasted from p. 14 of the
http://superb-east.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/greenstone/Develop-en.pdf
+ the sudo command)

cd ~/gsdl # assuming default Greenstone in home directory
sudo source setup.bash # if you’re running the BASH shell
sudo mkcol.pl –creator me@cs.waikato.ac.nz dlpeople
cd $GSDLHOME/collect/dlpeople

and then keep on sudo'ing through the commands - nb you'll need root
password to getter done)

if this works, cool. otherwise post your error log on and let's see what
you've got.
