Subject [greenstone-users] Greenstone library server keeps crashing
Hello everyone,

Greenstone is such a great product!!! Thanks to all for developing it. I
am a new user of Greenstone and over the past several weeks have manged
to build a nice little collection of about 20 or so digital images.
However, I have a couple of problems, which I have not been able to
resolve nor have I found any documentation on.

1. The server keeps crashing on me every time I am working in the GLI.
This happens when I switch tabs or make a format change, or for no
apparent reason. So every time I make a change and want to see the
results I have to restart the sever. The popup error message is the
standard windows box "sever.exe has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of
something the information you were working on might be lost....click
here for more details" The details are the code, but since I'm not a
programmer, I have no clue. This only happens when the GLI is open.

2. For the life of me I can't get the preview button to work. The error
message is "This file does not have a program associated with it for
performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options
control panel." I unfortunately am not able to determine what file
extension to use. Also have tried to set this in the File > Preferences
> Connection box, but I don't what path I should be using.

I have some minor formatting issues with the display as well, but would
really like to resolve these two problems first.

If anybody could help me figure this out, I would be grateful. I'm using
windows xp pro and Greenstone 2.73.

Thank you in advance,
Russell Franks
