Subject [greenstone-users] CVS access to greenstone source code
Hi,
we have recently discovered that versions of CVS running on non-linux
platforms might have trouble connecting to our cvs server.

(Basically, only the linux version seems to support using the "pserver"
method for connecting to a port other than the default, so setting the
server/directory to be something like
cvs.scms.waikato.ac.nz:2402/usr/local/global-cvs/gsdl-src
will result in the cvs client thinking that 2402 is part of the directory
name.)

Using pserver is the only method for getting the source code anonymously.

We have seen this on bsd-type operating systems - mac os x and solaris.
We are in the process of getting our Technical Support group to resolve
this, by putting our respository back onto the default port. However,
the same machine is serving quite a few different projects. I'll post
another message when this has been resolved.
