Subject [greenstone-users] Problems adding z3950 servers
Hello Greenstone-Users

I installed greenstone (gsdl-2.72-unix.tar.gz) on debian 4.0 Etch, through the InstallShiel Wizard interface on java,
enable everything in the choise Customs, even the source code.

The problem 1:

When I add a new z39.50 server in the file z3950.cfg in the etc/packages directory as:

LOC
z3950.loc.gov:7090
Voyager
"Library of Congress z39.50 server"

This link "Library of Congress z39.50" doesn't appear in the main greenstone webpage (http://localhost/gsdl/cgi-bin/library)
where it's supposed, it should appear

I had the same problem on debian 3.1 Serge, so to correct it, I had to compile the source code with the next steps:

on top greenstone directory:

./cofigure --enalbe-z3950
make
make install

After do this, the problem was resolved, and when I added a new z3950 server, its link appeared on the main greenstone page.

The problem 2:

Like in debian 4.0 Etch, I have the same problem, I thought, it would be resolve through the same way: compiling the source code, like I did in debian 3.1 but:

on top greenstone directory

this step works
./cofigure --enalbe-z3950

when I put the command:

make

In the middle of the process, this error appear, and the proccess is aborted.

I tried it in another operative systems like Ubuntu 7 and I had the same problem

Anybody has any idea, how can I solve that error? or if somebody can tell me another way to add z39.50 servers and those links appear on my greenstone
main webpage (http://localhost/gsdl/cgi-bin/library).

Thank so much if anybody can help me.
