Hi Daniel,

Sorry to hear you've had a painful time with Greenstone customisation. A
lot of people dislike the Greenstone macro language and I guess its
power comes at a price. Try to think of it simply as "bits of HTML
including other bits of HTML", and customising the output as following
the trail of macros until you find the bit to change. Most pages are
generated from a " GSDL Error

" macro, a "

oops

The requested page could not be found. Please use your browsers 'back' button or the above home button to return to the Greenstone Digital Library." macro, and a "
"
macro. You might like to try the "expand_macros.pl" script that comes
with Greenstone, if you haven't already.

Regarding your site, I can't see your Greenstone collection because I
can't log in. However, it looks like you're trying to do what Anson
Parker and Ruben Pandolfi have been discussing recently on the
greenstone-users list, and the same solutions apply: modify the macros
to include your library navigation bar (start with

and
, as Ruben suggests), or put the Greenstone collection in an
<iframe> (in this case you would actually be removing all the formatting
around the core Greenstone content). Both these have their advantages
and disadvantages. In your case I would try the <iframe> approach
because otherwise you'll have to worry about updating the Greenstone
macros whenever the library site changes.

If you can make it to Hamilton somehow we'd be happy to help you with
this, as we particularly like to support people in NZ using Greenstone!

All the best,

Michael
