Hi Sugmaran,

This is in response to several e-mails you sent, dated since last Thursday.

1. One of your e-mails had an attachment about a WSASYSNOTREADY popup
appearing. The following entry in the Greenstone wiki seems to discuss this:

http://wiki.greenstone.org/wiki/index.php/Running_Greenstone#How_do_I_fix_a_WSASYSNOTREADY_error.3F

2. If you continue to encounter problems related to starting the custom
web server on windows, there's two things you can try:

a) After running the server, when the Greenstone Server Interface dialog
opens up, go to its File > Settings menu and choose one of the other
options under Address Resolution Method. For instance, you can choose
the Local IP option. Click OK Apply the new settings and then restart
the server by pressing the Restart Library button of the Greenstone
Server Interface dialog. IF this didn't make much of a difference try
all the other options for Address Resolution Method, and see if any of
them work for your machine's settings.

OR:

b) Alternatively, you can try using the Apache web server that is also
included with the Greenstone 2.83 binary, instead of the default
Greenstone Windows server.

In order to do so:

- stop the web server if you were running this
- go into your Greenstone folder and rename server.exe to something else
like orig_server.exe
- The above is not enough, since windows' shortcuts frequently work even
when you rename files. So we need to still correct the Greenstone
Server's Windows Start menu shortcut to point to the apache web server
now. So press the Windows Start button. Find the Greenstone-283
shortcuts and rightclick on the one saying "Greenstone Server". Choose
Properties, click on the Shortcut tab and replace the "orig_server.exe"
at the end of the Target field with:
gs2-server.bat
(Make sure the rest of the path to your Greenstone directory is
preserved in the target field.) Click Apply and OK.
- Now, when you use the Windows Start menu shortcut to the Greenstone
Server, it will launch the apache web server that's included with
Greenstone instead.

The Greenstone Server Interface dialog that appears with the apache web
server should be something similar to what used to appear when
server.exe was run. So you still go to File > Settings to try out other
Address Resolution Methods, if you need to.

Hope this helps. Regards,
Anupama
