Ummm, sorry, no. The developers guide is the best we can offer.
Section 2.4 gives an overview of the macro langauge, and section 1.5 and
chapter 2 looks at the collection config file.

There is also a guide to customising the user interface, written by
Allison Zhang, which you may find useful:
