1. Purpose of drilling

By drilling, cylindrical recesses or break-throughs are cut out of workpieces.

It is necessary if

- screw joints
- pin joints
- riveted joints
- passages for fluids and gas

shall be made and if cylindrical machine parts shall be guided or carried.
