Lesson: La reproduction des plantes à fleurs

Rationale: Dramatization of direct and cross-pollination.

Materials:

6 students

confetti (paper punchies)

signs: 2 "étamine"; 1 "pistil"

tape

Procedure:

1. Select two students to be "étamines" and one to be the "pistil".

2. Tape the appropriate sign to their shirt.

3. Have "étamines" stand on either side of the squatting pistil, all three with cupped hands raised.

Pollination

4. Put confetti (pollen) in the hands of the "étamines". 5. With the teacher acting as the wind and an insect demonstrate direct pollination. 6. Select three more students to form another flower and demonstrate cross-pollination.
