Rationale: Use a model to demonstrate the sequence of movements involved in propelling an animal forward.

Materials:

2 rulers (science kit)

3 eye bolts (science kit)

3 wing nuts (science kit)

strips of cardboard: I - 7 cm x 3 cm

1 -3cm x 3cm

Procedure:

1. Make a model as shown in the diagram using eye bolts and wing nuts to attach the pieces.

2. The model can be adapted for any vertebrate as well as invertebrate.
