Rationale: Peanuts are an ideal example to use throughout the botany lessons and they're easy to grow. Following is an approximate growth timetable to aid planning.

1	Soak seeds overnight in water
3	5 mm radicle
4	3 cm root
5	5 cm root, stem growth begins
6	6 cm root, lateral roots develop, stem 1.5 cm
8	increased lateral roots, stem 2.5 cm
9	Stem 4 cm, cotyledons open
12	Stem 8 cm, first leaves
15	Stem 10.5 cm, cotyledons wither
17	Cotyledons fall off
5 weeks	Flowers develop
