About the author

Eric Holt-Gimenez. M.Sc. has worked in soil conservation and agroecology in California, Mexico and Central America or the last eighteen years. He helped Cachikel extensionists establish the farmer to farmer method in Mexico in 1978, then took Mexican campesinos to Nicaragua in 1987 for the first Campesino a Campesino program with the Nicaraguan Farmer's and Rancher's Union (UNAG). For the past decade he has worked closely with campesinos, technicians, farmer unions and non-governmental agencies to onsolidate and spread the Campesino a Campesino Movement throughout Mesoamerica. He is currently working on his Ph.D. at the University of California at Santa Cruz.
