This is being written with the PCV who is going to a HC in mind, but much is applicable to those in other situations as well. The aim of this chapter is not to set out a detailed map of activities that must be done on given days, but to serve as a resource against which to check the completeness of one's vision of the HD control effort.
Two years is a short time and the sooner one has some type of rational approach to his county, the better. In whatever efforts are decided on however, (planning, organizing, home visiting, ulcer treating) go slowly not only for the sake of fellow workers, but for one's own sake. As one senior volunteer said to a soon to be "unleashed" new arrival "If you can't talk Korean but only smile, it's ok. Beware the day that the speech comes but the smile can't be mustered. Go slow. "
