It is the aim of this chapter to lay to rest the idea that Public Health Education (hereafter PH Ed) is merely giving speeches. Doubtless the PH Educator may be called on to do just that, but it must be realized that at all times the health worker is communicating to others his belief that health is a valuable community asset. Furthermore this chapter aims at presenting the philosophical underpinnings of general PH Ed, outlining HD specific considerations and finally detailing language needs of the PH Educator.
