| Information and Computer Technology Fact Sheets |
Technology Fact Sheets are published by BOSTID with a grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York. They highlight opportunities for the use of information and communication technologies in Africa.
Each Technology Fact Sheet:
Describes an information or communication technology or application in basic terms;
Provides an idea of the most relative applications of the technology;
Explains the relationship of the technology to the African environment;
Explains the relationship of the technology to national STI infrastructure building;
Describes the components and the resources required to use and benefit from the technology;
Gives an idea of the relative costs of acquiring and using the technology on an ongoing basis; and
Provides references to additional information, local experts, and regional examples.
The Technology Fact Sheets will have a limited shelf-life because the technology is changing so quickly and, thus, BOSTID will issue updates whenever possible. BOSTID also welcomes ideas for topics that should be covered. As long as appropriate credit is given to BOSTID, the Technology Fact Sheets may be freely photocopied and distributed to anyone who has an interest in information and communication technologies. They can also be reprinted in journals or newsletters.
