IIRR's mission

To improve the quality of lives of the rural poor in developing countries through rural reconstruction: a sustainable, integrated and people- centered development strategy generated through practical field experiences. lIRR fulfills its mission through international outreach activities which include training, conferences, consultancies, networking and information dissemination. These activities aim to motivate and enhance the capabilities of development practitioners to adapt and apply rural reconstruction approaches to their work.

These outreach activities are grounded in practical development knowledge derived both from IIRR's rich heritage of rural reconstruction experience and from current field operational research in various countries.

Much this research is conducted in collaboration with partner organizations, including the national rural reconstruction movements and the regional and national associations of its training alumni. IIRR also draws from the experiences of other development organizations to enrich its knowledge

base.
