A Resource Packet for Health Care Providers and Programme Managers

Packet contents

· Adapting Resource Packet Materials for Local Use - suggestions for adapting these prototype materials according to local needs.

· Emergency Contraceptive Pills: A Framework for Introduction - considerations for introducing emergency contraceptive pills (ECPs) through family planning/reproductive health or other service delivery systems.

· Emergency Contraceptive Pills: Questions and Answers for Decision-Makers - clear and easy-to-understand answers to commonly asked questions about ECPs.

· Emergency Contraceptive Pills: Message Points - key messages about ECPs for use in training media spokespersons.

· Emergency Contraceptive Pills: Talking Points - concise responses to difficult questions about ECPs for use by spokespersons responding to opposition.

· Emergency Contraceptive Pills: What You Need to Know - prototype client brochures that describe in simple language what ECPs are and how they are used. (Note: two versions are included, one for estrogen-progestin ECPs and one for progestin-only ECPs.)

· Emergency Contraceptive Pills: Medical and Service Delivery Guidelines - comprehensive information on efficacy, mode of action, contraindications, counseling, and other issues related to the safe provision of ECPs.
