FIRST AID

The difficult circumstances in a war zone are such that skilled first aid is usually not available.

Basic advice:

- avoid rubbing or squeezing eyes or eyelids;
- close the lid to protect the cornea, if possible;
- apply a clean pad and bandage to cover the eye before evacuation.
