Subject: Book Summary Alpert, W.T. Ed. (2005). The Vietnamese economy and its transformation to an open market system. New York: M.E. Sharpe Inc. Location: University of Waikato Library. Call No. HC444.V57
The subject area of this book is economics and it provides an opportunity to gain some ideas about the infrastructure of Viet Nam as it includes chapters on taxation, legal institutions and banking. Two chapters worth browsing through are chapter 2 which addresses cultural issues in Viet Nam's transition and chapter 4 which profiles the people and the land. On page 57 education is mentioned and the writer says “Vietnam has a poor education system…” but does not expand on the statement to any degree which means the book has limited use for language teachers. |
