10. Local project administration

Project managers in all the cities held regular discussions with local and regional health authorities. In Barcelona both the city and regional health administration was involved with local NGOs, and one of the NGOs was selected to implement the project. This process of selection delayed implementation of the project, however, and analysis of the Barcelona data will need to be done at a later stage of the project (MDAP 2). In the case of Rome there were frequent technical discussions between staff of the ISS and the Italian Ministry of Health and Social Affairs which is especially interested in seeing the second stage of the project become more nationally representative, and include more cities. In Arhus the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Department of Social Affairs of the Arhus County were actively involved throughout the pilot project, and have committed themselves to continuing the project. In Antwerp the Flemish Ministry of Health and the National Ministry on Developmental Aid were informed on the project and expressed the wish to be informed on its outcome. Arnhem County authorities were active in formulating the project and in its management. The Central Government of France was involved in reviewing the project in Roubaix and in offering advice and technical support. In Athens there were ongoing discussions with the Medical School of the University of Athens, the Panteion University, and the Greek Center for Intercultural Psychiatry.
