Gives an account of the battle at Māhoetahi and laments the waste of human life. Warns Waikato leaders that they face world-wide ridicule if they continue their involvement in the war, and that although Pakeha do not wish to fight, there are many overseas to replace those killed, which is not something of which Maori can boast.
