Parental attitude

"To me, my parents were always so sensible in what they required and we still had the opportunity to do what we wanted to do, no dictatorial attitude about anything as far I can remember"

Felt family was very open in discussion of everything. Comments that his wife when courting was very surprised at the openness of his family. Family discussed moral standards together and made their own choices, also Christianity and what it meant in their relationships and community. Feels that parents also conveyed attitudes about wealth being more than money,

"Wealth is friends, wealth is being able to care for others, wealth is being in a position to be able to do that ... doing it without them knowing is even better,"

Describes how this attitude came from previous generations also. Remembers mother's father gave away his wealth, but lived a full life.
