Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ) is sponsoring a bill to extend interstate gambling prohibitions to satellite communication and to virtual games such as online roulette. Opponents include Indian tribes, the horse racing industry, and other gambling interests -- including some software makers in the Committee for Freedom of the Internet. [AP, 06Apr98. EduP.]

Internet gambling ("gaming") had revenues of $500M last year, and that's likely to go up as offshore casinos develop working relationships with various countries.
